Treatment Plans Tailored Specifically For You…
We begin with an initial consultation which lasts approximately 45 minutes. In the first part, your detailed medical history will be documented, along with an investigation of the symptoms that brought you to my clinic. Your tongue and pulse will then be examined as these are essential diagnostic tools in Chinese Medicine. This allows me to more accurately determine your condition and plan necessary courses of action. A diagnosis and treatment plan is made, followed by your first treatment. You can expect to rest on the treatment table for about 15 minutes while the acupuncture takes effect.
Subsequent consultations are usually shorter, lasting about 30 minutes. Here I assess the changes which have occurred since your last visit, and then proceed with the necessary treatment.
How many treatments will you need?
The number of consultations needed is dependent on many factors such as the longevity and severity of the problem, as well as the
constitutional strength of the patient. Traditionally in China patients are seen several times a week before sessions are even spaced out weekly. This is possible largerly due to the fact that Acupuncture is government funded. In Australia though this is not the case, nor with our busy lifestyles can be find time for almost daily treatments. However, I have found one session a week for 8-10 weeks to be an average course of treatment. Please be aware though this is only a guide.
Some chronic conditions may require several courses before we can space the sessions several weeks apart, again many factors need to be taken into account, which will be discussed during your consultations.
