My name is Dr. Steven Orloff, I am a Practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine with over 10yrs of clinical experience. I am a graduate of both Monash and Victoria University, having degrees in Anatomy, Physiology and Chinese Medicine. I have been around Acupuncture since my teenage years, developing a keen interest in how an ancient medicine is so effective in treating modern ailments. Through the course of my practice I have had the opportunity to treat players from the Western Bulldogs Football Club, gaining great insight into treating sports injuries.
I am a Registered Acupuncturist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and am also a member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA).
My interest started about 20 years ago when I began training in Chinese Kung Fu at the age of 14. My Dai Sifu (the Title of the Headmaster of my school), is an acupuncturist and herbalist for over 30 years. Through the course of my martial arts training I have had to learn basic Chinese Medicine theory to complete assignments related to my gradings. Over the years my interest and passion in the medicine grew and I began studying it at university. During this time I became the apprentice of my Dai Sifu and have followed him around in his clinic for years watching and learning under his expert tutelage.
I established Acupuncture Clinics in Camberwell and Parkdale for nearly 10yrs, Moving to Berwick in 2016 to take over my teacher’s clinic since he has recently retired.
Having done Chinese Martial Arts for over 20 years I’ve experienced my fair share of strains, sprains and serious injuries. The upside to all these injuries though is that it has given me keen insight into finding the root cause of other people’s pain, having had similar woes myself.
I have a family history of chronic pain and digestive disorders, and I witnessed first hand how western medicine could only provide symptomatic relief . It failed in my eyes to provide a good long term solution to these types of ailments. This is what drove me to study Chinese Medicine; to provide a natural alternative for pain relief and digestive health, which didn’t involve harsh side effects and constant medications. More and more evidence is being published each day showing Acupuncture is a viable alternative form of treatment, which you can read about throughout my site.
In my clinic I strive to be the best Acupuncturist I can be for my clients, I am very passionate about helping people and Acupuncture in general. I feel it is one of the best natural therapies for so many chronic pain and health conditions people suffer from.
